What are Chicken Supremes?
The Supremes are the whole Boneless Chicken Fillet (skin on) with the first (thickest) section of the chicken wing (on the bone) still attached. First you have to select large Sherwood Whole Chickens approx 1.6 kilos or bigger to take the Supremes from.
The lean Breast Fillets are cut off the carcass (with the skin on) carefully removing any excess fat & remaining soft bone. The whole 3 Joint Chicken Wing is still attached so, the next procedure is to remove the 2nd & 3rd section of the wing. The end result is a skin on large Chicken Supreme.
How are our Chicken Supremes packed?
Our Chicken Supremes are 1-2°c when packed within a few minutes of cutting, making sure that all the delicious flavour & moisture is kept within the meat.
These are vacuum sealed in pairs onto Clear Recyclable Plastic Trays, keeping the chicken as fresh as the day it was cut. This style of packing is called “Skin Packing” , this is a clear plastic tray with a thin, strong layer of plastic over the top sealing the meat onto the tray.
Once packed they are then boxed & blast frozen to -18°c in a few hours, giving a safe shelf life of 24 months when kept at this temperature.
All our production plants are BRCGS / IFS approved & operate under the strictest of conditions. Constantly supervised by on site health vets to ensure all cutting & hygiene processes are adhered to. The temperature controlled cutting rooms with filtered air means we can reduce natural bacteria growth & produce safer products with a longer shelf life. The process from farm to finished product is a very humane & efficient.
The clear recyclable trays protect your Chicken from any damage during delivery, any contamination from other foodstuffs in your fridge & they are perfect for frozen storage. The trays now used are stronger & thinner than before as we are reducing our Carbon Footprint for a Greener Future. Less packaging means less energy needed to make & recycle plastic.
