Information about Sirloin Steak.
Beef Sirloin Steaks are a luxury Steak that has a soft texture & is easy to grill or cook in the pan for quick tasty meals. Expert butchers have selected quality Grass Fed aged Boneless Whole Loins of Beef (Striploins) & cut thick 350g (12oz) ready to cook Steaks. These generous sized Steaks are perfect for the keen carnivores who love a great value Beef Steak. Packed in our Freezer Friendly Skin Pack Trays, these are great for stocking up at home.
As we all know, the process of ageing beef or any meats helps the natural enzymes found in meat to breakdown the fibres & enhance the flavour. The other benefit of ageing meat is; as the enzyme’s breakdown the fibres, the steak becomes really soft & tender.
What is Sirloin Steak?
The Sirloin Steak is a boneless tender flavoursome cut from the Loin (back area) section.
Sirloin Steak is one of the 3 most common Steaks; Ribeye, Fillet being the other 2. All good quality restaurants have these on the menu, Sirloin is one of the more expensive Steaks. The Sirloin has an outer strip of fat along the top edge of the steak, the texture of the meat is consistently fine with a little marbling through it. The meat is tender & delicious, these are best grilled or cooked in the pan, resting your Sirloin Steak before serving to guarantee juicy results.
How are Sirloin Steaks cut?
These are cut as individual Steaks boneless fat on.
Before any cutting the Whole Beef Loins on the bone need selected & aged, to improve tenderness & flavour of the meat. Having this process in place before the cutting allows us to be able to create a steak perfect for any restaurant or table at home. The Whole Beef Loins are where the Sirloin Steaks are cut from, the Loin is the lower back section between the Fore Rib & the Rump, the Whole Fillet Steak is located on the inner side of the bones.
The expert butchers remove the Fillet & the bones from the Whole Loin, carefully not cutting into the main Sirloin muscle. The next process for the Whole Boneless Loin (Striploin) is to cut the top tail part off closer to the eye of the meat (2cm) & remove any excess fat across the top. The Whole Striploin (6Kg approx) is ready to portion into Steaks. The Steaks are cut approximately 2cm thick & 15cm long, they appear slightly oval in shape.
The texture of Sirloin Steak is a little finer than its neighbour the RibEye Steak  & will be an easy to chew steak that is easy to cook. The natural colour of our Beef is a rich Red & will turn to a lighter red when exposed to the air before cooking.
How are Beef Sirloin Steaks (350g) packed?
Sirloin Steaks are packed in Recyclable Skin Pack Trays, 1 per tray.
The Steaks are cut & packed in under 5 minutes with minimal handling in cold clean production rooms. The temperature of our cutting rooms is very cold at a few Degrees above freezing because this helps to stop any natural bacteria growth in the meat, whilst retaining more natural juices in the steaks. This gives our steaks a longer shelf life & more natural flavour.
Our production plants & slaughterhouses producing our meat cuts or products are BRCGS / IFS approved . All the air is filtered & refrigerated coming into the production rooms, the butchers & packing staff wear fully protective clothing, these precautions reduce the transfer of natural bacteria. Operated with the highest hygiene & temperature controls to ensure you enjoy the same taste & texture from all our meats.
The Skin Pack Trays are Freezer Friendly, stacking easily to save room & the single Sirloin Steaks are more convenient for home cooking for one person meals. We vacuum seal the steaks onto the Skin Pack Trays, these gently hold the shape of the steaks & the vacuum process sucks all the moisture into the steak. They are vacuum-sealed in singles for your convenience & ease of freezing, they can be bought up to room temperature without drying out before cooking.
Once the Sirloin Steaks are packed they are labelled with full traceability & placed in recycled cardboard boxes & stacked on pallets then placed in to the Blast Freezer & frozen down to -25°c. This instant freezing keeps the Steaks in perfect condition for 24 months; tasting just like they have been cut fresh.
The Skin Pack Trays protects the Steaks during delivery to your door, freezer burn when stored at -18°c & contamination in your fridge from other foodstuffs. The packaging holds all the natural juices inside the Steaks when thawing out (in the fridge) & when you are bringing them up to room temperature before cooking.
We use stronger & thinner recyclable Plastic Trays to pack our Steaks to reduce our “Carbon Footprint”, we use 30% less plastic than previous packaging. We always ask you to Recycle all your packaging when you receive an order from us. The customer is the most important link in the recycling process, we hope to work towards a Greener Future.
Please see this link on How to recycle plastic. We all need to do our best for a Greener future #swf_recycle♻Â
