What are Sirloin Steaks?
Sirloin as the name suggests is a Boneless Steak cut from the Loin.
The Sirloin Steaks are cut from the “Striploin”, this is a Boneless Loin of Beef that has been trimmed ready to portion into Steaks. The familiar shape of the Sirloin is almost Oval with a strip of fat running across the top edge of the meat. The texture of a Sirloin Steak is medium coarseness with a little fat marbling (Grain Fed Beef has more marbling) throughout the Steak. These are a tender Steak that is best grilled & basted with butter or lightly seasoned with Salt n’ Pepper.
How are Sirloin Steaks cut?
The Sirloin Steaks are portioned from a Boneless Loin of Beef.
The expert butchers need to select the Beef Loins & age them before any cutting or preparation is done to make the Sirloin Steaks. The aging of the Beef on the bone improves the flavour & increases tenderness of the meat. Once aged, the Loins of Beef have all the bones removed without slashing into the main meat muscle (prevents any cut marks in the Steaks). The Boneless Loins or “Striploins” have the excess fat removed & any bone fragments, with the Tail or Flap of the meat being cut back close to the eye of the meat.
The Whole Striploin (6Kg approx) is ready to portion into Steaks. The Steaks are cut approximately 1.5cm thick & 15cm long & tidied up to create ready to cook Sirloin Steaks that are ready to cook with little waste.
The texture of Sirloin Steak is a little finer than its neighbour the RibEye Steak  & will be an easy to chew steak that is easy to cook. The natural colour of Beef is a rich Red turning brighter when exposed to the air before cooking.
How are Beef Sirloin Steaks (200g) packed?
Sirloin Steaks are packed in Recyclable Skin Pack Trays, 2 per tray.
All of our Steaks are cut & packed in minutes, with minimal handling in our clean cold production rooms. The lower temperatures, clean conditions & minimal handling produces a safer Steak that has a longer shelf life fresh because it reduces the transfer & slows the growth of natural bacteria. The Steaks are placed onto Recyclable Skin Pack Trays 2 per pack. The trays are passed through a machine that Vacuum Seals a thin layer of clear plastic across the Steaks, sealing this onto the tray.
Once the 2 Sirloin Steaks are packed they are labelled, the labels have full traceability from farm to fork. The Steaks are stacked neatly into recycled cardboard boxes & stacked on pallets then placed in to the Blast Freezer & frozen down to -25°c. This instant freezing keeps the Steaks in perfect condition for 24 months; tasting just like they have been cut fresh.
The packing trays are Freezer Friendly, easily stacked, saving room in a domestic freezer. We place 2 Steaks per pack to save on packaging & as a sharing pack for 2 people. The packaging holds the shape of the Steaks, locking in their natural moisture, this essential when thawing out or bringing up to room temperature before cooking.
We use stronger & thinner recyclable Plastic Trays to pack our Steaks to reduce our “Carbon Footprint”, we use 30% less plastic than previous packaging. We always ask you to Recycle all your packaging when you receive an order from us. The customer is the most important link in the recycling process, we hope to work towards a Greener Future.
Please see this link on How to recycle plastic. We all need to do our best for a Greener future #swf_recycle♻Â
Are Sirloin Steaks good value for money?
Beef Sirloin Steaks are not expensive when you order from a wholesale supplier.
Sirloin Steak is generally considered an expensive Steak when you buy from Supermarkets or Butchers. We make all our Steaks as Wholesale Meat Cuts offering them at a much cheaper price. The Steaks are ready to cook & trimmed to have little waste, this gives you a better value for money steak. There is not much shrinkage when these are grilled, the weight you buy is close to the weight you eat! Keep the strip of fat on because “Fat is Flavour”!
Making all our meats in wholesale production reduces the price per portion to the customer. Expert butchers can produce higher volumes of Steak portions per hour reducing staff wage costs. All our cutting & packing facilities use renewable energy & efficient machinery to reduce energy costs. Producing meat cuts at the abattoir & sending direct to wholesale customers or to our online customers reduces shipping costs & lowers our Carbon Footprint.
The cutting, packing & shipping processes for our Beef Sirloin Steaks makes our Restaurant Quality Steaks cheaper to buy online than butchers… giving you more meat for your money #moremeatfym.
