The Sherwood Boerewors Sausage 450 gram is large enough to share between 3 people to make an affordable meal that is great value for money. They have an amazing taste with a very meaty texture that is a delight to eat. This has the same pork meat content as our Traditional Pork Sausages or Cumberland Sausages, so you know these are going to be tasty.
The original recipe is South African & would usually contain a small amount of lamb, but we have kept it simple as Beef ‘n Pork to more appealing. A high meat content sausage with all-natural vitamins & minerals from Pork & Beef is healthier for you than a commercial sausage that uses fillers & water to make up the weight of the sausage.
The Boerewors Sausage is made with only natural skins to give a better snap or bite to it… as no one enjoys a chewy sausage!
Our expert butchers make our sausages to an exact recipe & method in refrigerated cold rooms, once made the Boerewors Sausage are then hung on racks to set up overnight in the fridges. The reason they are let hanging in the fridges overnight is to allow the blend of pork & beef to absorb the seasoning for a better more consistent flavour, & to help them “firm up to touch” so they pack better.
The sausages are then removed from the very cold fridges ( usually set at 2°C ) & taken to the packing room where they are trimmed & placed into clear recyclable pouches. The packing & vacuum process is done very quickly limiting the exposure to any natural bacteria found in the air. The shelf life of our sausages is extended because of this & it makes for a safer product with a far better flavour. The vacuum process sucks in all the natural moisture form the meat back into the sausage making them far better when cooking.
Once removed from the fridge they are made into the rings you see in the sealed packages in your orders.

Our daily supply of pigs is from local countryside farms in Belgium & Northern France. The name of the pigs originates from the village of “Pietrain” in the Wallonia region of Belgium.
Our Irish Grass-Fed beef enjoys some of the best green pastures that Ireland has to offer, with the higher than average rainfall there is never a shortage of lush grass for them to enjoy.
