So, what is in your Sherwood St Patrick’s Day Celebration Meat Box ?
The biggest piece of beef in your St Patrick’s Day Meat Box is the Flank Steak or Bavette as some would call it. This Delicious grass-fed piece is approximately 900-gams & comes from finest Irish cattle found on our rich green pastures in the Southern part of the Island of Ireland. This has been fully trimmed by our expert butchers to leave only the lean beef that is a perfect piece to grill, cook in the pan or as many will do, on the Barbeque. An easy piece to cook that only requires heat & seasoning, it delivers plenty of sharing steak slices for 3/4 people.
Just remember to let it rest for 15 minutes wrapped in foil to let the meat relax, as this allows the meat to finish cooking & soak up the natural juices.
No St Patrick’s Day Celebration Meat Box would be without some quality Irish Steaks! For you we have added the following; 2 Ribeye Steaks 350g, 2 Sirloin Steaks 350-grams, this is over a kilo of ready to cook steaks that are great for sharing. The Rump Steak can be cooked whole, rested, then cut in half to share, the Sirloin Steaks can be cooked together as a steak dinner for two or frozen for a rainy day. The Irish cattle we have over here is left to roam free on the lush rich pastures giving them the distinctive Grass-Fed flavour & texture, this is reflected in the eating of them.
Many people buy our Brisket Burgers for home cooking & in the restaurants because they are consistent & have a great “Beefy Taste”! The simple recipe works well with the cuts we use to make them as it infuses with the meat but doesn’t become over powering so all you can taste is onions like a cheap commercial burger. The quarter pounders are a good sized burger that will be ideal for the younger ones & great for making stacked burgers in buns. Again, because of the strict controls of the trimmed brisket cuts that go into these, there are no gristle lumps to spoil the experience.
In Ireland we have some of the best beef & it is known the world over as it’s found on menus on some of the worlds top restaurants.
Everyone loves bacon & we have selected our Unsmoked Dry Cure Back Bacon that is both excellent for flavour & doesn’t shrink like commercial bacon that you can buy on any shelf. The quality pork that is used to make this has great flavour & the dry cure process only intensifies the flavour. The Smoked Dry Cure Bacon doesn’t shrink much during cooking, making it much better value for money.
The 450-grams recyclable pouches are vacuum-sealed to hold all that flavour in & give a longer shelf life for a safer product. The dry-cured back bacon takes your bacon sandwiches to the next level & you won’t want the usual “wet bacon” that you find on most supermarket shelves after eating this!
One of the favourite lunchtime snacks is a tasty Sausage Sandwich in thick granary bread with real butter & brown sauce. We have added some Cumberland Pork Sausages, these meaty bangers are made from a specific blend of high-quality pork shoulder with simple ingredients. These tasty bangers are quick & easy to cook in the pan or under the grill, with a great texture because of our no gristle policy. Just slice them down the middle after cooking, add the brown sauce over the top, & sprinkle a little strong grated cheese to finish…. now you have a sausage sandwich worth talking about!
We have a No Gristle policy to be able to make sure that all our sausages have the right texture consistently throughout for the best bite! We vacuum pack our sausages in 6’s at 450-grams per pack.
Try these in bangers & mash, or a special sandwich with a little English mustard, they are delicious in simple comfort food dishes like this.
Sherwood Black Pudding is an essential item to a full fry, we have included our 2 x 150-gram pieces in this box so that you can enjoy cooking delicious thick slices for breakfast or adding to your burgers. Made using a traditional recipe that makes a delicious Black Pudding, & selecting the best quality pork cuts with No Gristle, these really are very good & are very popular.
The production of all our meats in the St Patrick’s Day Celebration Meat Box & our other meat boxes is made in temperature-controlled clean rooms to give a more natural product. The lower temperatures will slow the loss of moisture in the meat, the clean rooms will prevent any extra bacterial contamination of the meat, the results are a juicier, fresher tasting product at home that has a much longer shelf life.
The process from farm to fork is designed to maximise value for money & minimise waste, with welfare & the environment top of the list.
All our production facilities are BRC Approved & we are always using local herds to support local farmers for a sustainable supply chain.
The packing of all our meats has to be completed within a few minutes because we don’t want them to dry out. Many of our meat cuts are vacuum-sealed into clear recyclable pouches that gently hold the meat in shape, but more importantly, keep the natural moisture in the meat. Some of our meat cuts are placed into recyclable sealed trays or shaped trays as they would lose their shape.
We are always looking to find other methods of packaging that is cheaper & more Eco-friendly, so we can then help improve the environment moving towards a greener future. We are now using a thinner, stronger packaging that is also recyclable which helps us to reduce our carbon footprint by using less plastic. As our customers recycle their food packaging more by making sure that it is placed into the appropriate recycling collection bin, this also helps towards our Greener Policy.
We are all looking forward to a few days off with some drinking, good food & enjoying company on a zoom call or just in the house with family this year. This box will give you a good feed at home & you know that your still enjoying a little piece of Ireland when drinking your Guinness. At Sherwood we are very social, so please share your Paddy’s Day food pics with us on social media, Instagram / Facebook or Twitter, we are on all 3 platforms.
