The Sherwood Generous Pork T Bone Steak :
The different textures between the Sirloin & Fillet make this one of our more interesting pork cuts, as one is softer than the other & one has more flavour then the other.
Each Juicy Pork T Bone Steak weighs approx 240 grams & 20 mm thick, this makes for a juicy pork chop that is not cut thin like supermarket chops. The generous T Bone Steak is big enough to satisfy most hungry appetites & would be bigger than an 8-ounce steak served in a restaurant. Cooking this at home with fresh vegetables or simple Hassle back potatoes will bring 5 Star dining to your family.
The combination of 2 different cuts in one piece, gives 2 different textures; the Sirloin of pork is more fibrous than the Fillet or Tenderloin of pork & has more flavour. The fillet of pork is the most tender cut & will melt in your mouth, but still has good flavour. Cooking the Pork T Bone Steak as an on the bone cut of meat is easy & only adds to the flavour of the meat because the bone marrow mixes with the Pork Steaks natural juices.
Removing the meat from the Pork T Bone Steak is easy, just run your knife along each side of the centre bone & two single cuts across the backbone, then you have two steaks in one meal.
The colour & texture of our pork is a light pink with no bruising or discolouring & has a consistent grain throughout. The meat breaks apart very easily once cooked becoming very soft & releasing all the wonderful flavour. Once cooked, the meat will need covered & rested before serving because the meat will relax & absorb the juices on the cutting board, this gives far better results, just like you would expect when eating out.
Our pork is an excellent source of vitamins, minerals & protein, & many slimming recipes will recommend lean pork, chicken or beef as these are great sources of energy & low in fat. Though we leave the protective cover of fat on the outside of the Pork T Bone Steak, this is easily removed to leave the tender lean eye of the loin.
Trimming the fat from the Pork T Bone Steak after cooking is a simple effective way of making tasty food that is healthy.
All our pork is cut in temperature-controlled, clean production rooms with filtered air to keep the hygiene levels to an optimum level. The low temperatures help to keep the meat from losing its natural juices, this makes for a juicier Pork T Bone Steak, & also gives a more natural flavour when opening the pack at home. The hygiene standards are there to reduce natural bacteria growth, giving a safer product before packing.
All our production facilities are BRC Approved & we are always supporting farmers in the area close to production to build long term sustainable relationships by using local herds.
All our pork is cut & packed within a few minutes to produce the freshest products possible, once cut & packed it is then frozen to -18°c, this will stay in this condition until it is thawed for cooking. The fast process is the best way to create food that will be safe, with a longer shelf life & travel better as we ship all our products frozen.
The pouches are now thinner & stronger to help reduce the use of plastic for our packaging, & with our customers at home or in restaurants recycling responsibly, this is helping to lower our carbon footprint. We are always looking for more affordable biodegradable packaging for a greener future, but we have to put safety & hygiene first. The current packaging keeps the flavour of the meat locked inside & safe from other contaminants.
Delivering our meat to your door using our select couriers is a more efficient way of getting food to customers because they use lower emission vehicles, & can multi drop. Multi drop is collecting parcels from different companies & delivering to one address, this saves multiple trips to supermarkets & shops. It is very important that all packaging from any of our deliveries is reused or recycled. For example; the Slow Thaw Gel Packs are great to reuse many times for keeping food & drinks cold.
Our choice of pork is something we have carefully considered, as we find this makes exactly what our customers need for specification, flavour & taste. There are many breeds of pigs in the world, each with different characteristics, some large fatty ones, to small very lean types. Our choice of pig is the Pietrain Pig because it is a low cholesterol breed that has fantastic meat to fat ratio that has excellent flavour with guaranteed results in the kitchen.
Having access to a large volume of a good grade, perfect sized pork sides to choose from on a daily basis enables us to create the consistent “Restaurant Quality” pork cuts that people have come to expect from the Sherwood brand. We have daily delivery of pigs to the production facilities from long-standing local countryside farms in Belgium & Northern France.
Our select breed of pigs gets the name Pietrain from the small village of “Pietrain” in the Wallonia region of Belgium where they mainly originated from.
Many people enjoy making pork recipes at home, from roasting, grilling, casseroles or just Barbecuing, it is more affordable meat that has great flavour & offers excellent value for money. Who doesn’t love a juicy T Bone Steak ? These are definitely no exception, & leaving these in a good quality dry rub overnight in the fridge covered over is one way of preparing a great tasting Pork T Bone Steak.
Get your Pork T Bone Steak onto the BBQ after being left in the rub & let the smokey aromas work their magic!
An alternative way of cooking these is to season & seal them on a hot skillet, then place into a dish, covered over with a little water to keep them moist, & into the oven on a low temp for a few hours, remove, rest & enjoy. These are so simple to cook & handy for quick meals when cooked under the grill. Enjoy cooking with our Pork T Bone Steak & let the family try new recipes to make mealtimes more interesting.
