Information about Beef Sirloin.

Sirloin Steaks are on all Restaurant Menus as they are easy to grill & usually very tasty. The restaurants buy the Whole Beef Sirloins as a Wholesale cut in boxes of 3-4, the chef then portions these out to a preferred size for their menus. We have made the Boneless Whole beef Sirloins available for you to buy online for home delivery & saving you money. The Striploins (trade name) are approximately 7.2Kg each & ready to cut into Steaks or as individual Roasting Joints.

Sirloin Steak has a medium fine texture with little waste & is selected from our Grass Fed UK Cattle. Expert butchers prepare the unportioned 7Kg Boneless Whole Sirloins & place them into Recyclable Plastic Pouches to keep them in perfect condition for you to cut at home.

These are the only way of having delicious Beef Steaks at home without breaking the bank!

What is a Beef Sirloin Whole?

Sirloin as the name suggests is a Full Boneless Loin of Beef.

The “Striploin” is a Boneless Loin of Beef that has been boned & trimmed ready for portioning into Steaks. The familiar shape of the Sirloin is almost Oval with a strip of fat running across the top edge of the meat. The texture of a Sirloin Steak is medium coarseness with a little fat marbling (Grain Fed Beef has more marbling) throughout the Steak. These are a tender Steak that is best grilled & basted with butter or lightly seasoned with Salt n’ Pepper.

How are Beef Sirloins cut?

These are a Boneless Loin of Beef.

The expert butchers select the Beef Loins & age them before any cutting or preparation is done to make the Striploins. Aging the Beef on the bone improves the flavour & increases tenderness of the meat. Once aged, the Loins of Beef have all the bones removed without slashing into the main meat muscle (prevents any cut marks in the Steaks). The Boneless Loins or “Striploins” have the excess fat removed & any bone fragments, with the Tail or Flap of the meat being cut back close to the eye of the meat.

The Whole Striploin (7Kg approx) is ready for portioning into Steaks at home. The Boneless Beef Sirloins are cut approximately 10cm thick, 18cm wide & 60cm long & tidied up creating  little waste.

The texture of Sirloin Steak is a little finer than its neighbour the RibEye Steak  & will be an easy to chew steak that is easy to cook. The natural colour of Beef is a rich Red turning brighter when exposed to the air before cooking.

How are Beef Sirloins packed?

Whole Beef Sirloin is Vacuum Sealed 1 per pack.

All of our Steaks & Whole Primal Cuts are cut & packed in minutes in our clean cold production rooms. The lower temperatures, clean conditions & minimal handling produces a safer Steak that has a longer shelf life fresh because it reduces the transfer & slows the growth of natural bacteria. Though the meat is aged on the bone before they are cut, the packing allows you to age the Striploins in the bag in your fridge at home.

Please note: if you wish to age the Boneless Beef Sirloins in the bag chilled

  • The Striploins must be in the coldest part of the fridge
  • The meat must be stood on its side so the meat juices don’t go on to the fat
  • We recommend that they are aged for no more than 2 weeks & temperature must be below 4°c

Once the Beef Sirloins are packed they are labelled, the labels have full traceability from farm to fork. The Striploins are stacked neatly into recycled cardboard boxes & stacked on pallets then placed in to the chiller & kept at 0-2°c too age for a couple of weeks. The Sirloins are frozen to -18°c before shipping to our depot, freezing keeps the Beef Sirloins in perfect condition for 24 months; tasting just like they have been cut fresh.

We use stronger & thinner recyclable Plastic Pouches to pack our Striploins in, reducing our “Carbon Footprint”, we use 30% less plastic than previous packaging. We always ask you to Recycle all your packaging when you receive an order from us. The customer is the most important link in the recycling process, we hope to work towards a Greener Future.

Please see this link on How to recycle plastic. We all need to do our best for a Greener future #swf_recycle♻

Is Whole Beef Sirloin good value for money?

Beef Sirloins are not expensive when you order from a wholesale supplier.

Sirloin Steak is generally considered an expensive Steak when you buy from Supermarkets or Butchers. We produce all our Striploins as a Wholesale Meat Cut offering them at a much cheaper price. The Steaks you cut from the Whole Striploins have little waste, this gives you a better value for money per Steak. There is not much shrinkage when these are grilled, the weight you buy is close to the weight you eat! Keep the strip of fat on because “Fat is Flavour”!

Making all our meats in wholesale production reduces the price per portion to the customer. Expert butchers can produce higher volumes of Striploins per hour reducing staff wage costs. All our cutting & packing facilities use renewable energy & efficient machinery to reduce energy costs. Producing meat cuts at the abattoir & sending direct to wholesale customers or to our online customers reduces shipping costs & lowers our Carbon Footprint.

The cutting, packing & shipping processes for our Whole Beef Sirloin makes our Restaurant Quality Steaks cheaper to buy online than butchers… giving you more meat for your money #moremeatfym.
