Thick Succulent Pork Shoulder Ribs:
Pork Shoulder Ribs are the last few ribs from the brisket area at the top of the racks & have a generous cover of meat on them. The ribs are approx 9 cm wide at the top with the excess fat trimmed off to leave just thick meaty pork ribs. If you love Beef Brisket then you will love these, the sumptuous meat has a fantastic flavour that you can really get the smoke into the BBQ.
Our Pork Shoulder Ribs are from the finest Pietrain Pigs that are well suited to making great pork ribs with guaranteed results. The colour of the meat is light pink as the farm to processing is of the highest standard ensuring a good PH level for a balanced taste. The texture of the rib meat is the same as our St Louis Style Ribs because they are the top ribs from the St Louis Ribs racks.
The 500-gram pieces are an ideal size for two people as an appetiser or one rack will give a generous portion for a delicious meal. These Pork Shoulder Ribs are easy to cook in the oven, all you need is to remove the thin membrane covering one side of the bones & lightly season. The pork ribs will fall apart when covered & cooked at a lower temperature for longer, just let them rest before unwrapping, it allows the meat to relax & finish cooking.
Cooking Sherwood Pork Shoulder Ribs on the BBQ is the best way to add extra smoke flavour to the juicy meat. The smokey aromas of the added wood chips will be easily absorbed by the meat to really make these Ribs have the “WoW” factor. The texture of the meat will be very tender & pull from the bones easily giving a great bite to these.
Buying the twin packs of Sherwood Pork Shoulder Ribs is great value for money because of the high meat to bone ratio, they give you more meat for your money. These are ideal when buying multiple packs as they are ideal for finger buffets, starter courses or with sides as mains.
In the Far East, they enjoy Pork Shoulder Ribs, but with far less meat on them, the ribs are normally boiled with strongly flavoured sauces on them that are soaked up by the meat in between the bones. Good pork ribs must have a decent covering of meat on them because you need the meat to absorb the seasonings, creating the different flavours in the pork rib recipes.
The Pork Shoulder Ribs are vacuum-sealed within minutes of production to preserve all the natural flavour when delivered to your door. The packaging pulls tight against the meat to keep the natural juices from leaking into the bag ensuring the meat remains moist. The vacuum packing protects the meat from freezer burn or getting contaminated by other foods in your fridge.
We only use clear recyclable pouches to pack our pork in to protect the meat & to reduce our carbon footprint. The pouches we are now using are thinner & stronger to help lower our use of plastic & we are always looking at new ways to package our products in a more Eco-friendly way, with the safety of the customer first. We always urge our customers to recycle responsibly at home.
Pork has always been a good source of natural vitamins, minerals & protein, these are essential to a balanced diet to help maintain energy levels. The Pork Shoulder Ribs have a good covering of lean meat on them & will be something that is delicious & good for you.
There are many breeds of pigs in the world, each with different characteristics, some large fatty ones, to small very lean types. The Pietrain Pig is a low cholesterol breed that has fantastic meat to fat ratio. Having access to a large volume of a good grade, perfect sized pork sides to choose from on a daily basis enables us to create the consistent “Restaurant Quality” pork cuts that people have come to expect from the Sherwood brand.
Our daily supply of pigs is from local countryside farms in Belgium & Northern France. The name of the pigs originates from the village of “Pietrain” in the Wallonia region of Belgium.
Pork Shoulder Ribs are cracking on the BBQ with very little preparation work needed, just remove the thin membrane covering the bones by using a blunt knife or fork handle to prise off the bones, then pull off by hand. Choose your favourite Barbecue rub or common herbs & spices to rub into the meat before placing on the Barbecue, in the oven or slow cooker.
When they are ready, let the Pork Shoulder Ribs rest for ten minutes before brushing a little sticky glaze over the top before serving, guaranteed to bring a big smile to all your friends & family.
